Its mandate is guided by the Tertiary Education Act 2011 and is subjected to the regulatory requirements of the Seychelles Qualifications Authority (SQA). SBSA is overseen by a Governing Board and operates as per its Charter.

The Strategic Plan document comprises of the Background – giving a history of the Institution - Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles, and Methodology for the process of the development of the strategic priorities and objectives. The Strategic Priority and Strategic Objectives, and the Result Framework Section are the subsequent Sections respectively. The last Section contains the Implementation Plan, and the Monitoring & Evaluation Plan.

Background

The Seychelles Business Studies Academy was part of the Seychelles Polytechnic under the name School of Business and Secretarial Studies. It was based at the Anse Royale campus, which is the current location of the Seychelles Business Studies Academy shared with the University of Seychelles. The Seychelles Polytechnic was divided into the different schools in March 2011 and so the Seychelles Business Studies Academy became a separate institution as the School of Business Studies and Accounting.

In August 2015 the academy adopted its first charter and, under official nomenclature with the Tertiary Education Commission, also adopted its new name Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA). The academy is now operating under the new landscape as a Professional Centre under the Tertiary, non-university education and training section of the Ministry of Education.

The Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) currently offers four full-time training programmes: Diploma in Business Management and Administration, Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Human Resource Management and Certificate in Administrative Skills. The three diploma training programmes are of 3 years duration, accredited at Level 5 of the National Qualifications Framework by the Seychelles Qualifications Authority, while the certificate programme is of one year duration, validated at level 3 on the NQF.

The academy also offers part-time programmes in its bid to ensure provision of opportunities for lifelong learning. Currently on offer is a local Certificate programme in Business Administration which has been validated at Level 3 of the NQF by the Seychelles Qualifications Authority; AAT programmes in the 3 different levels: AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting; as well as Basic Training in QuickBooks Accounting software.

All the training programmes on offer are in great demand and the academy annually enjoys a consistent enrolment of students from Secondary 5 as well as professionals seeking to upgrade their qualifications.
