OLIVER BASTIENNE

Mr. Oliver Bastienne

Mr. Bastienne holds a BSc (Hons) Accounting & Financial Management and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. He is currently the Country Manager of EY Seychelles (formally known as Ernst and Young Seychelles); a company which has a strategical alliance with a local firm here in the Seychelles called ACM & Associates. Previously, Oliver worked for EY London for 5 years.

Mr. Bastienne appreciates that entrepreneurship is critical for innovation, business expansion and employment, particularly for young people. Through volunteering his time, he is currently working closely with the Department of Youth and the Department of Entrepreneurship to kick start the new generation of individuals that are ready to help their countries meet growth and employment challenges. He is giving the same zest and energy to ensuring SBSA develops positively.

Dinaz Van der Lans

Mrs. Dinaz  van der Lans

An employee at Barclays Bank Seychelles for past 15 years and currently the Head of Customer Service.

Prior to joining the banking sector, worked for VCS - Victoria Computer Services for 5 years as Xerox Sales Manager.

By profession was trained as a Secretarial studies instructor and worked for 18 years with the Ministry of Education at the Seychelles Polytechnic as instructor, senior instructor and finally as Head of Business Studies.

Mrs. Josianne Bristol

Mrs. Josianne Bristol

Mrs. Josianne Bristol earned a Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Innovation from the University of Warwick in UK, in 2005. She also gained a Bachelor in Education from the University of Bristol, graduating with First Class Honors, in 1997.

In January 2013 Mrs Bristol moved to her current position as Director. Despite holding the post of Director she also undertakes some teaching where and when required as her love of teaching will not allow her to remove herself from the classroom completely. During her tenure as Director SBSA managed to secure full Validation for all the programmes on offer and recently also secured full Institutional Accreditation from the Seychelles Qualifications Authority.

Mr. Joel de Commarmond

Mr. Joel de Commarmond graduated with a Diploma in Business Studies and Accounting from the School of Business Studies and Accounting in 1997. He started work in the accounting field until he went for further studies in 2002 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Information Systems in Western Australia.

He joined the School of Business Studies and Accounting as a lecturer in 2006 and was later promoted to Course Leader before pursuing further studies in 2007 in Cyprus for a Master in Business Administration specializing in HR, Marketing and Finance.

Upon his return, he took up a position as Programme Manager for the Seychelles Young Leaders Programme and was then amongst the first group of lecturers at the University of Seychelles. He has also held various positions notably as GMHR and GM Sales & Marketing at STC, and Account Executive at MCB. He now works at Air Seychelles as Manager Human Resources.

One of his proudest achievement is seeing his former students excel in their careers and he wants to help others realize their dreams’

Mrs. Stella Constance

Former student of the School of Business Studies and Accounting, then Secretarial Studies. Joined Government and Parastatal companies straight after studies and then ventured in offshore industry for 21 years now. Worked in regulatory body (SIBA) now FSA as Corporate Services Officer then changed routes to the industry itself Corporate Service Providers..

Over the past 15 years, Mrs Constance has held the post of General Manager at Fidelity Corporate Services (Seychelles) Ltd. She has pursued further related studies, seminars and workshops in offshore and management.

Mrs. Annie Vidot

Mrs. Annie Vidot

Mrs. Annie Vidot is a former student of the School of Business Studies and Accounting. She graduated in 1992 with a Diploma in Business Studies and Accounting and was also awarded Best Student for that academic year.

Following her studies at the Seychelles Polytechnic, Mrs. Vidot secured employment at the Ministry of Finance in the Internal Audit Department. She later joined the Development Bank of Seychelles (DBS) as a Loans Officer and spent 21 fulfilling years at this bank whereby she held various positions, mainly in the Credit Department. Her last position held at DBS was as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a period of 4 years. She also served a two-year term on the Board of Trustees of the SADC-DFRC (a subsidiary institution of SADC) for the period 2015-2016 – one year was as Vice-Chairperson and the second year as Chairperson.

Mrs. Vidot was appointed as CEO of the Seychelles Commercial Bank (SCB) effective 1 st February 2017. She is the first woman executive for this bank. She also serves on a few boards.

During the course of her employment, Mrs. Vidot pursued further studies and also attended numerous short courses. She currently holds a BA (Hons.) in Accounting and Finance with Accounting Systems and a MA in Leadership and Strategy.

Ms. Midzy Marengol

Ms. Midzy Marengo

Ms. Midzy Marengo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies from the University of Bolton in UK, in 2010, and an MSc in Human Resource Management & Training through distance learning with the University of Leicester, UK, in 2018.

Upon completion of her studies at the Seychelles Polytechnic, Ms Midzy started work in February 2002, as a Private Secretary to the Director General for Land Use and Habitat, at the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat. In 2005, she joined the Seychelles Polytechnic as at lecturer. In October 2015, she was promoted to her current position as the Programme Leader for Office Management & Administration Programme Area.

Mrs. Maria Solin

Mrs. Maria Solin

Mrs. Maria Solin was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Business Studies from the University of Bolton in the United Kingdom in 2009, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Seychelles, in 2013. She recently completed a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation at the National Institute of Labour Economics Research and Development in Delhi, India.

After completing her first Degree, Mrs. Solin has held several responsibilities at the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA) namely Lecturer, Programme Leader, and Coordinator of Studies. She is now the Deputy Director. She attends to some teaching as she cannot resist the temptation of being in class with her students. Apart from Office Procedures she has taught a wide range of subjects such as Word Processing, Information Technology, Management, Business Studies, Work effectively in Business, Citizenship Education, Typewriting and Shorthand amongst others. Her various responsibilities have given her a sense of commitment and duty. Some of her plans are to develop new courses for the Academy and put into place better training plans for the staff especially making the monitoring and evaluation function more effective in the Academy.

Mrs. Hellen Belmont

Mrs. Hellen Belmont

Ms. Hellen Belmont holds a Diploma in Business Studies, a Diploma in Office Management, a Certificate in General Management, a Certificate in Personnel Management and has been with the Ministry of Education since 1999. She is currently the Administrative Manager at SBSA.

Ms. Belmont has a pleasant personality and is a very hard working and helpful person. She is a great initiator of teamwork and performs her duties in an exemplary manner. She is always willing to put in extra hours if required and her interpersonal skills has allowed her to develop productive working relationships with both staff and students. She has a strong sense of commitment to her work and handles things in a calm and efficient manner. She is very loyal and can be relied upon to get things done with minimum supervision. She is a much valued asset at the Seychelles Business Studies Academy and is in general humanistic and cares for others.

Ms. Kristy Naiken

Ms. Kristy Naiken

Ms. Kristy Naiken is a second year student following a Diploma in Business Management and Administration. She was voted as Chairperson of the Learner Council in March 2019. Kristy is an exemplary student who gets on well with her peers and all staff. She is very approachable, has a pleasant personality and plans to take her duties as Chairperson of the Learner Council very seriously.
